COASTAL MOUNTAIN RETREAT

Szabo Finish Carpentry & Woodworks was engaged to design, build, and install new custom windows, doors, skylights, and interior renovations. Windows and doors were built in the arts and crafts style using reclaimed redwood with some weight and chain double hung windows, and copper-clad skylights. Windows and doors also feature mortise and tenon joinery and oversized sashes with a natural finish. Interior renovations were completed with custom log and steel work and new lime plaster chosen for its elegant textural finish. New stone masonry patio and walkways and light landscaping enhance the natural setting.

RANCH HOUSE REMODEL

Located on a mountaintop in view of Point Conception, this 1970s California ranch style house was refitted with Szabo Finish custom windows, doors, kitchen, fireplace, bathroom, and more. New and reclaimed materials were chosen for excellent quality and longevity, with a focus on tropical hardwoods, and solid bronze, brass, and stainless hardware throughout, as well as glazing windows with high grade insulated glass units.

HISTORIC CARRIAGE HOUSE RENOVATION

Szabo Finish thoughtfully renovated a George Washington post and beam house in Santa Barbara, California, featuring Old World construction techniques. A pass through area with bookcases was built and installed next to the fireplace, along with the addition of discrete double pocket doors to create a passage to the next room; and solid cherry wood was milled for custom built and installed floating shelves in the kitchen.

HISTORIC MIDCENTURY MODERN RENOVATION

Designed by the first female architect in Santa Barbara this house holds historical significance. The owners wanted to keep all the existing windows and doors despite none of them working properly. I had to remove re- shape, hinge, cut the doors to fit properly, install/ mortise new hardware, add wood where there wasn’t enough, and take away where there was too much. I milled and installed new white oak thresholds, did internal trim, door hanging, and lots of custom small projects.

After spending way too many hours looking for a quality wood frame sofa with natural latex cushion and linen upholstery I realized that it did not exist, so I made my own. Zero chemical sofa is made with solid curly oak frame, 100% natural latex foam and undyed Linen fabric, thats it. Better for your health and better for the earth.
